About the role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Cost Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will support product cost optimization and ensure that projects meet profitability targets. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Program Management, and Purchasing teams to define and achieve cost targets for materials and investments. You will be part of a cross-functional environment, contributing to the development of cost management processes and tools.
Key Responsibilities

Support the definition of product cost targets based on component and tooling knowledge

Assist Purchasing in analyzing supplier quotations and identifying gaps versus targets

Develop and maintain cost benchmark databases for future projects

Contribute to make-or-buy analyses and business case evaluations

Collaborate with Engineering on Design-to-Cost activities during early development phases

Build internal knowledge on manufacturing processes, cost drivers, and regional cost differences

Identify and propose cost reduction opportunities, including business case preparation

Support the development and implementation of cost management processes to ensure target achievement

Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and manufacturing methods to support cost optimization
Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience in cost engineering, controlling, or a similar role within manufacturing or product development environments

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field

Experience with cost estimation methodologies (e.g., “should cost” analysis) and project development processes

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies (e.g., composites, machining, forming, additive manufacturing, finishing processes)

Experience in cost controlling or cost engineering is considered a plus

Advanced knowledge of Excel; familiarity with VBA, Access, or similar tools is an advantage

Experience with cost estimation software (e.g., LeanCOST, Siemens PCM, Costdata) is a plus

Basic understanding of CAD tools is beneficial

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Good communication and negotiation abilities
