As an Interior Panel Design Engineer, you will lead the design, development, validation, and delivery of premium interior systems and components, taking ownership from concept creation through to series production.

 

Working across engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, prototype build, and supplier teams, you will drive the successful development and integration of interior components, ensuring targets for performance, quality, craftsmanship, cost, weight, timing, and manufacturability are achieved.

Where you'll make an impact

 

  • Lead the design and development of interior trim systems and components from concept through production release.
  • Own system integration activities, ensuring components interface seamlessly with surrounding vehicle systems and meet design intent.
  • Create, maintain, and release engineering deliverables, including 3D models, 2D drawings, technical specifications, BOMs, DFMEAs, and Design Validation Plans (DVPs).
  • Develop innovative solutions that balance aesthetics, craftsmanship, functionality, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and development partners to deliver components that meet technical, quality, cost, and timing targets.
  • Coordinate prototype builds, supporting part availability, assembly activities, issue resolution, and design maturation.
  • Define and support component and system validation activities, including test planning, execution, analysis, and result evaluation.
  • Drive resolution of engineering concerns through root cause analysis and implementation of robust corrective actions.
  • Support vehicle manufacturing, launch activities, and production readiness to ensure a flawless customer product.
  • Prepare and present technical updates, design reviews, and project status reports to internal and external stakeholders.

 

What are your core components

 

  • Experience in automotive R&D, product development, or vehicle engineering environments, in particular experience in interior trim, interior panel, or luxury interior component design and development
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong CAD proficiency, preferably in CATIA V5, CATIA V6, or 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Knowledge of surface modelling, including CATIA GSD (Generative Shape Design).
  • Experience creating and managing technical documentation, including DFMEAs, DVPs, technical specifications, and BOMs.
  • Good understanding of vehicle systems, manufacturing processes, and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and passionate about delivering premium-quality engineering solutions.

Salary range: €37 500 – €57 500 gross per year (depending on experience)
