SHORT SUMMARY
We are seeking a proactive and technically strong Product Development Engineer to take ownership of an ECU Systems domain across the full development lifecycle. This role acts as the single point of accountability for hardware and software performance, ensuring delivery in line with targets for functionality, quality, timing and maturity.
The ideal candidate has solid experience in ECU development within an automotive OEM or Tier 1 environment, and is comfortable managing HW/SW complexity, driving supplier performance, and ensuring end-to-end traceability from requirements to validation and release.
You will lead development and industrialization activities, coordinate cross-functional teams and suppliers, and ensure successful vehicle integration. Strong ownership, structured problem-solving, and clear technical communication are key to success in this role.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the complete lifecycle of assigned ECU Systems Domain, ensuring delivery of hardware and software scope aligned with Bugatti Rimac programs targets.
- Act as single point of accountability for overall ECU System performance focusing on functionalities, quality, timing and maturity.
- Track and manage ECU System software development including features definition and implementation, ECU SW requirements coverage and traceability through documentation, software deliveries/planning/releases dates and contents, validation status and reports.
- Track and manage ECU System hardware development and industrialization including ECU HW requirements definition and technical specifications, schematics/drawings, DV/PV ECU activities, samples availability and readiness.
- Act as a primary technical interface toward Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers for assigned ECU Systems Domain, ensuring suppliers deliver according to agreed scope, timing, quality and cost targets.
- Monitor suppliers’ activities including development progresses on software/hardware readiness, issues analysis and resolution, validation execution and documentation compliance.
- Support Purchasing and Program teams during sourcing, RFI and RFQ phases, through Component Technical Specification and primary technical guidance.
- Coordinate with Software Integration team to ensure timely and consistent delivery into integration activities.
- Ensure ECU validation activities are completed in line with requirements and maturity targets, supporting and performing component-level validation providing technical input and test coverage.
- Ensure transparent and consistent technical reporting to ECU Systems Lead, Product Development Manager and Head of EE/SW, including status, risks, maturity and mitigation actions.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of automotive EE/SW architecture and multi-ECU systems integration.
- Experience in ECU systems development or component ownership within OEM or Tier 1 environments.
- Solid knowledge of both hardware and software development processes, including validation (DV/PV).
- Familiarity with requirements engineering and traceability (e.g., Polarion, DOORS) and issue management tools (e.g., Jira).
- Knowledge of automotive development lifecycle (V-cycle), including milestones and gateways.
- Experience with DFMEA, technical specifications (CTS), and system validation methodologies.
- Knowledge of vehicle networks (CAN, LIN) and related analysis tools (e.g., CANalyzer, CANoe, ETAS).

Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Automotive, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical, Computer Science or equivalent.
- Automotive industry experience (mid–senior level), ideally within OEM and/or Tier 1 environments.
