We are looking for a Quality Engineer - Material Compliance & IMDS Specialist to ensure that all materials and chemicals used in our products meet global regulatory and customer-specific requirements. This role involves managing IMDS submissions, monitoring compliance with e.g. REACH, and other environmental directives, and supporting internal teams and suppliers with accurate material declarations. You will also oversee chemical management processes, including safe handling, documentation, and regulatory reporting of substances used in production. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of material compliance, chemical regulations, and experience with IMDS and related tools. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to maintain product quality, regulatory alignment, and sustainability goals.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyse material compositions and chemical properties of components used in production
  • Support product development by advising on restricted substances and environmentally safe materials
  • Collect, review, and submit IMDS entries in accordance with OEM-specific requirements
  • Validate supplier-provided IMDS submissions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with relevant standards (e.g., REACH)
  • Track IMDS submission statuses and ensure timely approval by customers
  • Manage and improve all aspects of organization compliance to REACH, CLP and applicable Croatian Laws and regulations in cooperation with Croatian Institute of Public Health - Department for Toxicology and Ministry of Health
  • Organizing the education for handling hazardous chemicals and other applicable educations
  • Keeping the record of import and production of chemicals
  • Continuous training of all employees related to chemicals and other hazardous materials used in production
  • Ensuring employees health & safety standards regarding chemical use and storage are met in all areas of the organization
  • Performing surveys of departments and facilities to ensure adherence to safety regulation and procedures
  • Professional assistance to the company management and all departments in relation to hazardous chemicals and improvement of the monitoring system to ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment

 

Skills & Competencies:

 

  • Knowledge of global material regulations: REACH, RoHS
  • Familiarity with substance classifications, and regulatory thresholds
  • Material selection and substitution in compliance with environmental standards
  • Proficiency in IMDS platform and MDS structure
  • Validating supplier entries for completeness and accuracy
  • Requesting, tracking, and validating IMDS submissions
  • Recognizing and handling SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern)
  • Croatian & English language skills
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree qualification or higher in an engineering field with extensive relevant experience
  • Driving license
