Regular tasks:
• Coordinate and actively participate in development, validation and maintenance of thermal and hydraulic models of powertrain components
• Thermal modeling knowledge of internal combustion engines, gearboxes, electric motors, batteries, oil and fuel circuits.
• Develop and maintain HVAC system models, cabin thermal models and refrigerant circuit simulations to support vehicle thermal comfort assessments, performance development and XiL applications
• Utilize advanced simulation tools such as GT Suite and MATLAB/Simulink for analysis and model development.
• Collaborate with the testing team to define and set up measurement devices and sensors.
• Participate in experimental testing to validate simulation models and gather data for model refinement.
• Prepare and present detailed reports about simulation results and performance metrics to stakeholders.
Decision making authorities:
• Select and develop appropriate simulation methodologies and tools for various powertrain and HVAC components.
• Approve thermal simulation models and results before integration into the overall vehicle model.
• Approve modifications to performance simulation models based on experimental validation results.
• Lead discussions with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal models into the overall vehicle development process.
• Recommend design changes based on simulation outcomes to improve performance, thermal efficiency and reliability.
Managerial authorities:
• Coordinate external resources and suppliers to ensure seamless integration and contribution to company goals.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
•Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and interns.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and robustness of thermal models for all powertrain and HVAC components.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in 1D thermal modeling techniques and tools.
• Ensure strong alignment between virtual models and experimental validation results.
• Support the development of robust test procedures and ensure their successful execution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal models into the overall vehicle simulation framework.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on thermal modeling progress and results.
• Uphold high standards of documentation and reporting for all thermal modeling activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
Required skills and competencies
• Technical Proficiency: Proven expertise in GT-Suite and MATLAB/Simulink environments for accurate and fast running thermal models. In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engines, gearboxes, electric motors, batteries, HVAC systems and refrigerant circuits.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze simulation and experimental data to derive meaningful insights. Keen attention to detail.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to address thermal modeling and management challenges.
• Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and reporting. Capability of conveying complex technical information clearly.
• Collaboration: Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and experimental validation groups, demonstrating leadership and initiative.
• Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in performance models and validation processes.
