The candidate will be responsible for the design, simulation, testing and final release of all HVAC unit and related systems across all Bugatti Rimac programs.

 

1. Key duties and responsibilities:

  • To define HVAC unit high level and low level technical specifications on both cooling side and cabin comfort side
  • Lead suppliers and external partners to deliver HVAC unit and related components on time into production according to target cost, package, mass, functionality and quality
  • Ownership of HVAC unit and related items, including HV battery pack cooling system for hybrid powertrains
  • Maintain and support de-bug activities for current and future HVAC units and refrigeration systems, ensuring corrective actions are implemented 
  • Main reference figure for HVAC unit and related systems for feasibility, functionality and resolution of technical issues
  • Manage physical testing and prototype evaluation of hardware components from dyno to vehicle testing
  • Manage HVAC overall control system and implementation into VCU (Vehicle control unit)
  • Engage with main external suppliers and manage costs and timings, and ensuring program milestones are met, including evaluation of RFQ responses to influence management decisions 
  • Develop and ensure cross-functionality with other R&D departments to define HVAC related HV and LV systems and achieving vehicle requirements
  • Engage with the product development process to understand the impact of design/engineering decisions
  • Evaluate competitor benchmark information to improve concept definition in early project phase
  • Establish regular design reviews with cross functional teams
  • Support Functional Safety and Cyber Security, Intellectual properties and patents within R&D team
  • Collaborative definition of methodology and release of standards related to durability and reliability with analysis team
  • Be a team player and share the knowledge throughout the whole powertrain team

 

2. Qualification & Experience:

  • Previous experience within an automotive or automotive components supplier on HVAC related topic 
  • Engineering Degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent
  • Experience on all relevant vehicle legislation and certification requirements for automotive HV components and systems
  • Experience of delivering hybrid powertrain components from early design stage to series production
  • Proven experience in tracking and planning of technical subjects, tooling processes and variable/investment costs
  • In-depth vehicle powertrain knowledge and electrified components
  • Working across functional teams effectively to deliver viable problem resolution
  • Experience on CAD modelling software - Expert user of Matlab/Simulink

 

3. Considered a plus:

  • Excellent team player and communicator, able to work effectively with cross functional teams
  • Ability to organize multiple technical inputs, summarize and present to the top management
  • Strong problem-solving skills, along with an ability to manage a varied workload, to tight deadlines
  • Relevant written and verbal communication skills
