1. Responsibilities

  • To own ‘how’ we achieve the product requirements from a manufacturing perspective – the right equipment design to meet takt, quality output, safety.
  • Cross-functional working with Project Manufacturing Lead, Process Engineers, and other Industrial Solutions colleagues to deliver the assembly line for a project
  • Assess early feasibilities for manufacturability, how to assemble the product and design a rough manufacturing concept
  • Design bespoke equipment for internally produced jigs, tooling & fixtures
  • Research and identify new machines and assembly technologies
  • Ensure the assembly line compliance with the industry’s safety standards
  • Ensure all equipment & tooling are ergonomically suitable for operator usage
  • Identify DFM opportunities to improve the design of the products
  • Lead the line supplier workstream with regards to:
    • How to ensure machines/equipment meet product requirements
    • Analyze the sub-supplier parts used for reliability & maintainability
    • Track and ensure design reviews and technical specifications deliver our needs
    • Lead the FAT and SAT (Factory/Site Acceptance Tests)
    • Identify trial parts requirements.
    • Support the supplier with installation and commissioning.
    • Lead the close out of the installation to ensure handover to production.
    • Assess capability and R&R studies for the equipment on site to deliver quality products
    • Implement changes on equipment and tooling as per product changes and assess the best cost-quality-time balance to deliver this.
       

2. Requirements

  • Previous experience as a tooling, industrial, or equipment engineer in manufacturing.
  • Well-versed with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to an international standard or automotive / aerospace standard.
  • Proven experience using CAD software; knowledge of SolidWorks, Catia and/or similar 3D software is mandatory
  • Led and worked in collaboration with Assembly Line Suppliers globally.
  • Good understanding of safety standards and environmental impact of a design
  • Ability to present in front of leadership and customers.
  • Great computational and spatial ability
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Ability to travel to suppliers’ sites to ensure the build and FAT is on track.
  • Bachelor`s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or similar field of study

 

3. Considered as an advantage

  • Experience with battery or e-axle components (EV field in general)
  • Delivered an Assembly Line from start to finish within Manufacturing Engineering (ME)
  • Understanding Product development through development phases
  • Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma training for problem solving
  • Experience with processes of milling, turning, 3D printing, sheet cutting and bending and surface treatment
