We are currently looking for a mixture of skills, that form a part of the Systems team involved across all projects within the Manufacturing Business Function. The role will be part of a diverse team comprising of:


  • Layout Engineer
  • Manufacturing Safety & Ergonomics

  • Gauging and Capability Analysis

  • Standards & Procedures
  • Reliability & Maintainability
  • Cycle Time Assessment
  • Continuous Improvement


1. Responsibilities and work tasks

  • Layout:
    • Designing 2D or 3D drawings based on the assembly line concept.
    • Ensuring the facility meets all automotive, construction and health & safety requirements and standards.
    • Identifying the utilisation of space and how to improve it.
    • Standardising all layouts across existing facilities and new facilities.


  • Manufacturing Safety & Ergonomics
    • Subject matter expert to support the project teams with safety and ergonomic challenges.
    • Covering topics such as weight x frequency calculations, working heights, hand & finger clearances, high voltage, reach assessments.
    • Involved in defining safety standards that Engineering should meet and Manufacturing processes are designed to.


  • Manufacturing Quality:
    • Co-ordinating the PFMEAs to ensure the teams are on track, and reporting on the function status.
    • Moderating the PFMEAs to ensure standardised approach, correct questions being asked and answers.
    • Supporting all teams with identifying critical and significant characteristics with Engineering and Quality.
    • Working cross-functionally with the Quality team to ensure that ME is aligned with the business requirements from the Quality team.


  • Gauging and Capability Analysis
    • Involved as a subject matter expert in the aim for all Manufacturing to target the applicable Cp and Cpk, as well as all gauging requirements.
    • Supporting with calculations required for numerous assembly systems.
    • Involved in the definition and prove out of various measurement systems to ensure the correct precision, accuracy and reliability.


  • ERP Systems
    • Supporting the core IT (ERP) team with the implementation from a Manufacturing Engineering side.
    • Involved in collecting all inputs/outputs/processes from the Manufacturing unit and acting as point of contact for implementation.


  • Standards & Procedures (S&P)
    • As the business grows and the team develops, we require stricter standards and procedures.
    • Developing the standards that the team need to work to.
    • Identifying and documenting procedures to ensure standardised work and outcomes from all teams within Manufacturing.
    • Cross-project S&P for equipment, stations, ways of working, documentation and the entirety of the Manufacturing deliverables.


  • Reliability & Maintainability (R&M)
    • Ensuring R&M is considered on all projects and assembly systems.
    • Assessing in-house designed & produced equipment, whilst working with the supplier to ensure their proposed equipment suitability.
    • Validating Mean-Time-To-Repair (MTTR) as well as Mean-Time-Between-Failures (MTBF) to obtain the best utilisation of our system.


  • Cycle Time
    • Calculating cycle times across assembly lines’ operations.
    • Experienced with MOST / MTM / MODAPTs – or any other recognised time measurement system.
    • Working with the process engineers and equipment to define opportunities to improve cycle time and leaner ways of working.
    • Line balancing the system and proposing solutions to optimise.


  • Continuous Improvement
    • Experienced with Kaizen, Green Belt or Black Belt, DMAIC, 8D.
    • Working across facilities and projects to identify improvements with the assembly systems and equipment. Improving Cost/Quality/Time.
    • Documenting lessons learnt for future projects.


2. Requirements

  • Good knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Excel
  • Strong organisational skills and systematic approach to work
  • Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken) is essential
  • Communicative team player
  • Dependable and methodical (strict attention to detail)
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-organized and goal-oriented
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in the relevant field of study
  • At least 2 years of professional experience
