Responsibilities 

 

  • Lead Battery Concept Development: Drive ideation, design, and evaluation of advanced battery concepts, ensuring alignment with technical, performance, and cost targets. Focus areas include material selection, manufacturing feasibility, and system-level performance metrics.
  • System Architecture and Modeling: Develop and maintain detailed system architecture diagrams and documentation for battery systems, from individual components to full battery packs. Utilize advanced CAD modeling tools (e.g., 3DX) to create precise models that support design validation and integration.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Initiate and guide collaboration with R&D, Battery Systems Engineering (BSE), manufacturing, and other departments to align on technical solutions, system requirements, and development strategies.
  • Technical Documentation: Generate and review detailed technical drawings, schematics, and specifications for battery systems, ensuring compliance with automotive standards and traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Proactively identify technical risks and challenges in battery concepts, developing robust mitigation strategies to ensure design robustness and scalability.
  • Feasibility Studies and Reporting: Lead feasibility studies, critically analyzing test data, simulation results, and performance metrics. Deliver comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations to guide further development and decision-making.
  • Effectively communicate feasibility study outcomes, technical insights, and project progress to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment with business goals and customer requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback to enhance the feasibility assessment process, driving continuous improvement in battery concept development methodologies and practices.
  • Technology Monitoring: Stay abreast of advancements in battery system technologies, cell chemistries, and industry trends, fostering a culture of knowledge growth and innovation within the team.

 

Requirements 

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials Science, or related field, with several years of experience in battery system engineering or energy storage, ideally in automotive/EV contexts.
  • Knowledge of battery cell technologies, electrochemical behaviors, system-level requirements, material selection, manufacturing processes, and product development lifecycles, with familiarity in automotive standards (e.g., ISO 26262, UN 38.3).
  • Proficient in advanced CAD modeling (e.g., 3DX) and MS Office; hands-on experience designing automotive parts, tools, and jigs for EV applications.
  • Proven ability to manage projects under tight timelines, and deliver high-quality technical proposals in high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent English communication skills for presenting complex technical information, with a proactive mindset for innovation, staying current with battery advancements, and protecting intellectual property.
  • Desirable Skills: Familiarity with standards like UN 38.3, IEC 62933; experience with BMS, thermal management, cell testing, or emerging technologies (e.g., solid-state batteries, recycling processes).
