Rimac Energy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Integration Engineer to join our dynamic product delivery team. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, integrating, testing, and validating battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid-tied inverters, and associated test rigs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical/electronic engineering for embedded systems and a proven track record of working with complex systems integration. A strong focus will be on ensuring seamless interaction between hardware, software, and system components, based on customer and system requirements. You will work across the full system lifecycle, ensuring that all components meet rigorous performance, safety, and compliance standards, while contributing to the development of sustainable energy solutions. Some familiarity with grid codes, industry standards, and testing methodologies, and the design of hardware and software to meet these is essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead the integration of high-voltage systems, including battery management systems (BMS), complex power electronics. Manage multiple hardware and software interfaces.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software integration issues to optimise system performance.
- Manage the full lifecycle of system development, from capturing customer requirements to validating final solutions using appropriate test rigs and test assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between system requirements and hardware/software components.
- Design and implement testing strategies, including using simulation tools and in-house rigs for component and system validation.
- Utilise tools such as Matlab, Altium, Python, and CAN/UART-based protocols to support design, analysis, and testing processes.
- Work on high-profile projects, including customer-facing work for international clients, ensuring system performance meets stringent industry standards.
- Develop and optimize PCB designs, components, and system architectures to improve power throughput, efficiency, and lifespan.
- Produce and deliver clear, consistent reports and documentation for both internal teams and customers, showcasing system performance and design processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in systems integration engineering, specifically in automotive or energy storage systems (high-voltage inverters, battery systems).
- Expertise in power electronics, inverter design, gate driver circuits, and embedded control systems.
- Proficient in using industry tools such as Altium, LTspice, Matlab/Simulink, CANalyzer, and CANoe for design and simulation.
- Strong background in system architecture design, functional safety (FuSa) principles, and designing for automotive or industrial applications.
- Experience in hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) testing and custom rig development for system validation.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards for automotive and energy systems (e.g., ISO26262,, IEC61508, G99, IEC62619, IEC62933).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- A passion for renewable energy, and innovative engineering solutions.
Considered as an advantage
- Experience with renewable energy systems, including off-grid setups and battery storage systems.
- Hands-on experience in developing test rigs or data collection tools.
- Experience with MATLAB scripting and real-time hardware setups for data analysis and test automation.
