In the role of Battery Systems Engineer – HV Architecture the candidate will be responsible for the design & development of the HV Architecture and Power Distribution Units (PDU) of high-performance automotive energy storage systems. In the development of the HV Architecture, the candidate will monitor functional and non-functional requirements as well as balance performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability. In the team, the candidate will be considered an expert in module integration and will support other projects in the design and manufacturing support of cell interconnections, electrical insulation materials, and joining technologies within the energy storage system.

The battery system plays numerous important roles in the vehicle, from providing the initial power needed to start the engines to being the heart of the car. As a crucial component, it is a product of our biggest focus and our main product when facing customers and fulfilling their needs. Our understanding of battery technology comes from years of designing, testing and verifying solutions built to meet the most demanding needs.

The Battery Systems Engineering team collaborates closely with other departments and works on perhaps the most exciting automotive projects in existence today. No surprise there, it has become the most appealing and respected role and position in the whole automotive industry.

Our team not only develops the battery packs for our fantastic Rimac HyperCars, but we work and provide numerous global automotive manufacturers with our battery solutions. Working close with great customers and partners like Aston Martin, Koenigsegg, Porsche, Hyundai, Jaguar, Pinifarina, Magna and many more well-known and respected car manufacturers, gives us the opportunity to work on the most exciting vehicle projects one could imagine. 


  1. Responsibilities
    • Create HV architectural concepts or designs based on requirements
    • Asses performance and functionality of HV electrical components based on requirements
    • Quantify the performance of different architecture choices and optimize architecture choices according to the cost function
    • Knowledge of CAD software (preferably Catia or Solidworks)
    • Experience in any one (or more) of the following production processes: welding and other joining technologies
    • Have an eye for durability and reliability
    • Define failure modes / FMEA / FTA
    • Identify multidisciplinary design tradeoffs
    • Coaching junior engineers to transcend to senior engineers
  2. Main Tasks
    • Battery pack systems and subsystems research and development
    • Supplier engagement
    • Mechanical joining technology research for electrical components
    • Technical drawings and production documentation
    • Design, develop and release component and system specifications
    • Supervising the testing of finished products and systems
  3. Requirements
    • Experience with HV Safety in the automotive industry
    • Knowledge in designing for high voltage systems (automotive, <1500V)
    • Knowledge of Creepage and Clearance as well as EMI
    • Knowledge of electrical schematic design
    • Experience with product and process validation
    • Good knowledge of Lithium-based battery cells
    • Self-organized and goal-oriented
    • Ability to guide and coach other engineers
    • Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken) is essential
    • Communicative teamwork player
    • Bachelor's or higher degree in the relevant field of study
    • At least 5 years of professional automotive experience
  4. Considered as an advantage
    • Extensive experience in the engineering development
    • Good knowledge of production technology
    • Good knowledge of the battery cell management
    • Knowledge in cooling system design and management
    • Understanding of electro-mechanical components
