About the Role
 
As the Director of Finance at Rimac Energy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy of a fast-growing company at the forefront of the energy storage industry. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee all financial operations, balancing the demands of equity-based funding with the development costs of our innovative products. This role requires a strategic thinker with a broad financial skill set, creativity in structuring financing solutions, and a deep understanding of managing finances in a product development-focused business.

 


Responsibilities
 
 
  • Financial Strategy and Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy to support Rimac Energy’s growth, including budgeting, forecasting, and managing liquidity for a business scaling its first product.

    • Fundraising and Capital Management: Oversee equity-based cash raises, ensuring optimal terms and alignment with long-term business goals. Collaborate with the CEO and Rimac Group to secure funding while maintaining financial discipline.
    • Innovative Financing Solutions: Design creative financing models to integrate product financing into Rimac Energy’s differentiated sales strategy, enhancing customer value and market competitiveness.
    • Financial Oversight: Manage all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and risk management, with support from Rimac Group specialists as needed.
    • Cost Management: Find creative solutions for smartly managing development costs, whilst developing highly differentiated products in a typically capital intensive industry.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and operations, to align financial strategies with product development and market goals. Closely collaborate with the Finance team of Rimac Group / Technology to unlock potential synergies.
    • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with Croatian and international financial regulations, maintaining robust governance and transparent reporting practices.
    • Team Leadership: Build and lead a lean finance team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and responsible management.
 
Requirements
 
    • Proven Experience in Small Business Finance: Demonstrated success managing the finances of a smaller business, with experience  of managing equity-based cash raises.

    • Product Development Expertise: Background in a business developing tangible products (e.g., manufacturing, technology, or energy sectors), rather than purely service-based industries.
    • Creative Financing Acumen: Ability to design innovative financing solutions that enhance Rimac Energy’s sales strategy, such as customer financing or partnership-based funding models.
    • Broad Financial Skill Set: Comprehensive expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and compliance, with the ability to oversee all finance-related topics.
    • Knowledge of Croatian Financial Environment: Familiarity with Croatia’s financial regulations, tax systems, and banking environment is strongly preferred.
    • Strategic and Analytical Mindset: Ability to think strategically while maintaining meticulous attention to detail in financial analysis and decision-making.
    • Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to diverse stakeholders, including non-financial teams.
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA is a plus.
 
Suggested Additional Qualifications
 
    • Experience in Energy or Technology Sectors: Prior experience in the energy, renewable energy, or high-tech manufacturing sectors, with an understanding of the financial dynamics of R&D-intensive businesses.

    • Global Financial Exposure: Familiarity with international finance, including managing cross-border transactions or working with global investors, to support Rimac Energy’s ambitions in international markets.
    • Risk Management Expertise: Proven ability to identify and mitigate financial risks in a rapidly evolving industry.
    • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with the ability to pivot strategies as the company scales.
