Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and system-oriented Drivetrain Mechanical Development Engineer – System Mechanical Integration to join our electric drivetrain development team. This role focuses on the mechanical design, integration, and system-level responsibility of the Electric Drive Unit (EDU), with primary emphasis on electric motors and transmissions. You will own the mechanical integration of the EDU within the vehicle, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, packaging constraints, performance targets, NVH behavior, and weight objectives. The position requires close collaboration with customers, project leadership, and cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements, manage interfaces, and maintain a robust and production-ready EDU design throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

1. EDU System Mechanical Design & Integration: Lead the mechanical system integration of the Electric Drive Unit, covering electric motor, transmission, and all associated mechanical interfaces. Ensure a cohesive, well-integrated EDU design that meets functional, performance, NVH, weight, and packaging requirements.
2. Vehicle & Interface Integration: Own and manage all EDU-to-vehicle mechanical interfaces, including mounting brackets and bushings, halfshaft interfaces, wire harness routing, sensors, NVH jackets, and cooling interfaces. Ensure proper integration within the vehicle architecture and alignment with customer packaging constraints.
3. Customer Collaboration & Requirement Management: Work closely with customers during project definition to support requirement setup, clarification, and alignment. Translate customer requirements into internal engineering tasks and distribute them effectively within the development team.
4. 3D Assembly Management & PLM Release: Build and maintain the complete EDU system assembly in 3DEXPERIENCE throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure design maturity, configuration consistency, and timely release of components and assemblies within the PLM system, with high-level responsibility for the system eBOM.
5. System-Level Performance, Weight & NVH Optimization: Drive system-level optimization of the EDU with strong focus on weight reduction, mechanical performance, and NVH behavior. Collaborate with specialized teams to ensure  balanced trade-offs between performance, durability, cost, and manufacturability.
6. DFMEA & System Responsibility: Lead and maintain the mechanical portion of the system-level DFMEA for the EDU. Identify risks, define mitigation actions, and ensure robust design solutions throughout development and validation phases.
7. Cross-Functional & Project Support: Work in close collaboration with the project lead, electrical engineers, thermal engineers, NVH specialists, and manufacturing teams. Provide technical support where needed to ensure project milestones, timing, and quality targets are met.
8. Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain system-level design documentation, interface definitions, integration reports, and validation inputs. Communicate project status, risks, and technical decisions clearly to internal stakeholders and management.
9. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement of EDU system integration processes, design standards, and best practices, incorporating lessons learned from previous projects and testing feedback.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Proven experience in mechanical design and system integration within drivetrain or electric drive unit development
• Strong understanding of electric motors, transmissions, and system-level mechanical integration
• Experience with vehicle packaging, mechanical interfaces, and tolerance management
• Solid knowledge of performance, weight optimization, and NVH fundamentals at system level
• Proficiency in CAD and PLM tools, particularly CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE
• Experience working in cross-functional and customer-facing engineering environments.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to coordinate across teams
• Structured, analytical mindset with strong ownership and problem-solving capabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with electric vehicle (EV) drivetrains and EDU system architecture
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability at system level
• Experience with system-level DFMEA and product validation activities
• Familiarity with supplier coordination and component sourcing for drivetrain systems
