As a senior battery modelling engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development of multi-scale electro-thermal battery models for a variety of uses in the development and delivery of industry leading high-performance battery technology.



  • Maintain a battery modelling strategy document to ensure the appropriate scale and fidelity of models are developed to meet company requirements.
  • Be responsible for the creation, parameterization and validation of electro-thermal battery cell, module and pack models.
  • Be a key player in improving battery system performance using battery models to influence system and sub-system requirements, mechanical and thermal design, and control conditions within the BMS.
  • Work with the Battery Management System team to support development of cutting-edge algorithms to create more physically informed estimates for SoC, SoE, SoP and SoH
  • Develop data analytical tools to analyse and generate insights from big data sets from Rimac battery systems operating in the field
  • Review relevant academic literature to identify and implement algorithms based on emerging academic literature
  • Support advanced deep learning models and tools for data analysis and optimization
  • Protect your inventions with our IP team



  • Strong fundamental knowledge of lithium-ion cell electrochemistry, cell degradation mechanisms and battery system design
  • Strong background in mathematics, battery modelling and data analytics
  • Experience in 1D modelling, task automation, data manipulation.
  • Advanced programming and simulation skills (MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, GTSuite, Dymola, Python)
  • Familiar with battery testing equipment, design of experiments and li-ion battery testing
  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude
  • Comfortable with initiating and taking ownership of projects
