Responsibilities

 

  • Communicate with Test Engineers and interpret test requirements
  • Provide advanced testing solutions, either with new test functionality or integration of new equipment
  • Own and lead the entire process of making new test equipment which includes: information and requirement gathering, concept designs, design reviews, design freeze,requesting quotations, requesting manufacturing and purchasing support, performing assembly, and requesting assembly support and commissioning
  • Support the generation of mechanical system requirements documents and design or select equipment required to perform testing
  • Ensure the optimal running of the facility by supporting the Test Engineers
  • Work to standard processes and procedures
  • Create/improve processes and procedures
  • Generate 3D models, assemblies and 2D drawings using 3DX experience to design mechanical rigs and jigs for test
  • Create technical drawings and production documentationCAD modelling in close collaboration with other members of the team
  • Developing technical concepts optimising system level solutions
  • Support the release of the product into production
  • Participate and chair mechanical design reviews
  • Selection of suitable materials for parts
  • Selection of suitable production technology
  • Provide training and support to Technicians, Operators, and Test Engineers in the use of mechanical systems
  • Planning of tasks and prioritizing according to which would provide the most benefit.
  • Track the calibration and maintenance of hardware where appropriate
  • Support test rig and assembly fixtures
  • Part manufacture using basic workshop skills
  • Provide mechanical engineering support at all phases of test facility build, from concept, through installation, commissioning, and productive ramp-up
  • Support the generation of risk assessments with expert mechanical knowledge of test systems and materials properties


Requirements

 

  • Experience using CAD software, preferably CATIA
  • Experience generating technical specifications for mechanical test equipment
  • Experience in generating technical drawings and production documentation
  • Experience in production technologies (CNC milling, turning, sheet metal, welding)  
  • Basic knowledge and practical understanding in electrical engineering
  • Basic knowledge and practical understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
  • Basic knowledge of automation systems
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality
  • Hands-on approach
  • Systematic, logical, and scientific approach to problem-solving (experience with 8D is desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • MS Office
  • English

Considered as an Advantage

 

  • Experience in the design of the jigs and fixtures,
  • Experience with testing in an automotive environment in one of the following:
  • Battery Testing - Cell, Module, Pack
  • Powertrain Testing - E-Motor, E-Axle, Gearbox
